Program Information:

Camp Acworth, established in 1999, is the home of our Summer Day Camp Program that provides a safe and active environment for children to enjoy their summer. Camp Acworth features two locations to have fun at: Lake Acworth Adventure Camp based at Cauble Park and Overlook Adventure Camp based out of the Acworth Community Center.

Camp Acworth is open to Acworth residents and non-residents. Our camps are tailored for rising 1st graders through rising 8th graders.

Campers must be rising 1st graders through rising 8th graders. Campers must turn 6 before September 1, 2024 and cannot be older than 14 before September 1, 2024 per Cobb County School District.

Registration opens Monday, February 5th for Acworth residents and Monday February 12th for non-residents. To prepare ahead of time, you can visit our Rec1 registration page to create a registration profile or to update your existing profile. Summer Camp Parent Orientation will be held on Monday, May 20, 2024 at 6:00pm at the Acworth Community Center.

When creating your Rec1 profile, please include the following:

  • Accurate information for your campers including accurate date of birth, gender and name spelling.
  • Preferred email address. The main account holder will be the only primary email address contacted through our system.
    • Please update your Contact Preferences to “Opt In” to receive email communication from our team. Email is the main point of communication between camp staff and parents. Parents will only be contacted via phone in cases of emergency.
  • Updated phone numbers for parents/ guardians. Please also indicate whether it is a home, cell or work number.
  • Include up to 5 emergency contacts information including name, relationship, phone number and email address.

Overlook Adventure Camp

Overlook Adventure Camp is based out of the Acworth Community Center located in Logan Farm Park. Camp activities at Overlook Adventure Camp include team sports, gymnasium activities, arts and crafts, educational speakers, hiking, weekly field trips, and more!

Sessions: Camp consists of eight, one week sessions:

Overlook Adventure Camp will go weekly field trips on Tuesdays or Wednesdays. Lunch options will be listed with each field trip once the finalized trip schedule is posted. Please also send snacks for your campers for before and after the field trip. More field trip communication will occur during each week of camp.

Lake Acworth Adventure Camp

Lake Acworth Adventure Camp is held at Cauble Park and headquartered at the Acworth Beach House. Originally named Camp Acworth, this camp now has a new name to fit our growing summer camp program! Camp activities at Lake Acworth Adventure Camp include swimming, canoeing, archery, educational speakers, hiking, weekly field trips and more!

Ages: 6 – 14 (by Sept. 1, 2024)

At camp, daily lunches are not provided. All campers will need to bring their own lunches, swimsuit, and towel each day of camp at Lake Acworth Adventure Camp.

Registration and Fees

City of Acworth Residents: $125.00 per week

  • Fee structure: $100 camp program fee + $25 non-refundable camp deposit

Non-City of Acworth Residents: $150.00 per week

  • Fee structure: $100 camp program fee + $25 non-resident fee + $25 non-refundable camp deposit.

**Deposits are non-refundable. Paid deposits that go unused can be applied towards remaining camp balances as a department credit. Camp deposits are not refunded back to original form of payment.

Camp registration is not restricted to one location! Parents are encouraged to register their child for different weeks at each location if campers are interested in a variety of summer camp activities! Please make sure to be careful during registration so campers are not accidentally registered for the same week at different locations. Please read camp names and descriptions carefully throughout the registration process and ensure your weeks match up with your calendar. Deposits are non-refundable!

To reserve a camp spot for your child(ren), a $25.00 non-refundable/non-transferable deposit will be due at registration per week per child. The camp deposits and any non-resident fees are included in the total registration cost. Remaining camp balances can be paid immediately upon registration or leading up to the week your camper is registered for.
* Week 1 of camp May 28 – May 31 must be paid in FULL at registration regardless of resident status.

Counselor in Training (CIT) Program Information:

Camp Acworth is excited to introduce our updated CIT Program. The Camp Acworth CIT program is designed for rising sophomores and rising juniors, typically 15-16 years old. The transition from camper to CIT creates an opportunity to develop and nourish leadership, communication and learning skills needed when working with children in a camp setting. The goal is to create responsible leaders who can not only contribute positively to Camp Acworth but also to their schools and community. With updates to our program, please read the eligibility requirements below.

CIT Eligibility Requirements Are:

  • CIT position is open to rising sophomores and rising juniors (15-16 year olds).
  • Work permit required for CITs who are 15 years old.
  • Applicant has completed a minimum of 10 volunteer hours during the past 2 school years.
  • Submit 2-3 Letter of Recommendation Forms.
